⚙ TradeLink setup

Install TradeLink with the Setup wizard.

The normal TradeLink download is now a Windows Setup .exe. You no longer need to manually unpack the customer ZIP and install each component yourself. The Setup wizard installs TradeLink and, where it can verify your NinjaTrader installation safely, installs the TradeLink NinjaTrader AddOn automatically.

Download TradeLink

We recommend downloading TradeLink from your NetLabs Members Dashboard so you always use the current download provided for your account.

The normal website download gives you a file named similar to:

TradeLink_Setup_vX.Y.Z.exe

The ZIP package is used by TradeLink’s automatic updater. Normal manual installation should use the Setup EXE.

Close NinjaTrader completely

Before starting the installation, close NinjaTrader 8 completely. The installer will not force-close NinjaTrader for you.

If NinjaTrader is still running, close it and then continue with Setup.

Run the Setup EXE

  1. Double-click the downloaded TradeLink_Setup... file.
  2. Approve the Windows administrator prompt if shown.
  3. Follow the Setup wizard.
  4. Follow the options shown by your version of the installer. If it asks which hedge platform you intend to use, choose MetaTrader 5 or TradeLocker as appropriate.
  5. Continue through the installer and click Install.

The normal installation folder is:

C:\Program Files\NetLabs\TradeLink

If you already have TradeLink installed

Run the newly downloaded Setup EXE in exactly the same way.

The installer detects the existing TradeLink installation and will offer Update when the downloaded version is newer, or Repair when appropriate.

Your normal local settings, saved licence information and TradeLink trade history are preserved during an update.

Hedge platform: an update keeps your existing MT5 or TradeLocker selection unless you explicitly choose to change it during Setup.

Let Setup install the NinjaTrader AddOn

The wizard attempts to locate and verify your NinjaTrader 8 profile and install the TradeLink AddOn automatically.

If automatic installation cannot be completed safely, Setup will show a Manual steps required for completion page and tell you exactly which NinjaTrader AddOn ZIP to import.

For that fallback only, use:

Control Center > Tools > Import > NinjaScript Add-On

Open TradeLink from NinjaTrader

  1. Start NinjaTrader 8 after Setup has finished.
  2. Open Control Center > New > TradeLink.
  3. Confirm TradeLink reaches Connection OK.

Opening the TradeLink AddOn is the normal first-run action. It can start the local TradeLink Bridge for you.

Connect your hedge platform

MetaTrader 5: TradeLink normally tries to find terminal64.exe automatically. If it cannot, you can select the terminal manually from TradeLink’s Advanced settings.

TradeLocker: no local MetaTrader terminal is required. Open the TradeLink Dashboard, link your TradeLocker login, select the exact account you want to use, and run the connection test.

Run a test before using a live or funded account

  1. Use Sim101 in NinjaTrader.
  2. Use a demo account on your selected hedge platform.
  3. Check the account, hedge instrument, order size, stop and target before submitting.
  4. Submit a small test trade.
  5. Confirm both sides open as expected.
  6. Close the test and confirm both sides close as expected.
